THE LEGACY BEGINS

With a life philosophy revolving around serenity, responsibility and innovation, Katsujiro Iwai established Kansai Paint in the year 1918. Growing up during the Meiji Restoration had imbued him with a sense of wide-eyed ambition. Even today, his life philosophy still guides us in a world of never-ending possibilities.

1965

TAKING THE GLOBAL STAGE

Although we’re rooted strongly in Japan, we began evolving in the 1960s to share Japanese excellence with the world. After establishing ourselves as a leading player in the international paint and coatings market, we made the move to set up our first foreign operations in Singapore, 1965. From there we moved quickly across Southeast Asia, Asia and then the United States, Europe, Africa and UAE.

2006

ENTERING A COUNTRY OF VIBRANT COLOURS

Attracted by the prospects of Malaysia’s colourful culture and love of creativity, we founded Kansai Coatings Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in 2006. This was after our successful acquisition of PAR, the renowned Malaysian brand for decorative paints and industrial coatings. In 2014, we contributed to the fight against Aedes Mosquitoes and Dengue Fever by introducing first anti mosquito paint in malaysia. ALES Anti-MosQ, our mosquito-repellant paint. It has been a bestseller ever since.

2013

PAINT IT RED

In January 2013, we signed a sponsorship deal with the English football club, Manchester United. United’s commercial director Richard Arnold said: “Kansai is the perfect company to partner with Manchester United. Although from two very different industries, they demonstrate many of the same values and qualities we adhere to both on and off the pitch…”

2015

INTRODUCING KANSAI PAINT ASIA PACIFIC

As of 2015, Kansai Paint Malaysia has been established as Kansai Paint Asia Pacific to meet consumer and business demands across the region. Supporting and commemorating the growing market in Malaysia, this name-change signifies a great hallmark in our brand’s history.

WELCOME SANCORA PAINT

By 2016, our vision to revolutionize the industry reaches a new milestone with our embracement of Sancora Paint as one of our own. With Sancora joining our family, our capabilities are now more colourful than ever before.

2017

Mr Paint Man joins Kansai Paint

In 2017, Mr Paint Man joins the Kansai Paint family which is a new milestone for the brand. This joint venture aligns with Kansai Paint's commitment to growing its global presence with the idea that the combined resources will spur Kansai Paint to be one of the most comprehensive coatings manufacturers in Malaysia. Many of Mr Paint Man's products are now incorporated into Kansai Paint’s product range which suits all your painting needs.

2018

Kansai Paint Celebrates 100th Anniversary

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Kansai Paint. A campaign entitled 'Going Beyond' was launched to inspire all Kansai Paint fans to overcome challenges by going above and beyond to achieve success. Kansai Paint has become a manufacturer in Japan & around the world that develops paints not only for protection but also for aesthetics and functionality.

ALES Shiquy, the first lime plaster air-purifying paint manufactured in Japan & Malaysia as well as the unveiling of the new Kansai Paint corporate logo which reflects the brand superior technology that has become an essential element to support the development of people and society.
